Unable to display subs of MKV files

WMP12 can not display any of the subtitles of MKV files. My OS is Windows 7 x32 and I have the haali splitter and the other filters required.

I have tried a number of different things such as enabling WMP to see embedded subs (under DVD advanced options) and taking ownership and renaming C:\Windows\System32\mfpmp.exe.

Are the subs and the video file named the same, i.e - sevenforums.mvk - sevenforums.srt?

I use MP classic and the CCP codecs exclusively for this. Uninstall other codecs and use that. It works perfect.

Go here to get the codecs - CCCP - Combined Community Codec Pack

jpjones2288, if you actually read the OP, they are asking how to disaply subtitles using Windows Media Player. CCCP will not assist with playing MKV's with subtitles in Windows Media Player. If your preference is to be tied down to a single player, by all means choose to use cccp.

blue031, you will need a codecpack that was actually designed for use in Windows 7. The Shark007 Win7codecs will allow ALL files, including MKV with subtitles to be played in WMP and Media Center and any other Directshow player you choose to use.
