    W7 and Winamp

Hi all. I'm using build 7057 64x and have installed my favourite media player, Winamp.
I notice that when I use the player with a full screen visualization (Milkdrop2) it keeps flicking back to the windows landscape I'm using as a wallpaper.
This is only for a millisecond but it makes the visualization function unusable.
I am using an Nvidia 260 with the 185.65 beta drivers but they are working fine in Vista HP 64x. No flicker at all there.
Has anyone else noticed this and is there a cure?

    Best wishes, John:)

Have you tried reverting to the *official* Win7 Beta drivers, as opposed to drivers written for Vista?

Thanks for the reply. I was originally using the "official" W7 drivers and they seemed fine.
However whilst I was in W7 I became aware of the 185.65 beta drivers via Brinks thread in Vista forums so I installed in W7 to see if it would work.

All my games are still in my Vista main install so I booted into Vista to install it there only to find that installing it in W7 had also installed it in Vista!

If I roll back to the W7 driver will this carry over to Vista as well?
It's strange because when I first installed W7 I had different drivers in that and in Vista but now they seem to be crossing over from W7.
    Very curious.

    John:)

Umm, I hate to burst your bubble, but that is not suppose to happen - Are you *100%* positive that no one came by and installed those drivers for you?

And you wouldn't necessarily have to 'roll back' - go to nVidia's website and DL the Win7 driver....

I didn't think it was supposed to happen either!
I rebooted into Vista specifically to try the new drivers with games and when I bought up Rivatuner they were already installed.
There's only me here and I did this immediately after installing the drivers in W7.
I'll certainly go back to the W7 drivers as this flicker is not a good sign but that is the way it happened I assure you.

    Cheers, John

    Hello again.
I re installed the W7 nvidia drivers and that's cured the flicker in Winamp so thanks very much for your help.
I'm back in Vista now and the 185.66 drivers are still in there.
They seem to run without problem in Vista and no flicker in Winamp.
I hope the long awaited W7 release candidate sorts out the problem with them as I really like the Ambient Occlusion effect the betas provide.

How they got there will have to remain a mystery but it was only yesterday morning I installed the drivers in W7- no beer no jazz cigarettes- and I'm sure I didn't install them in Vista.
    It must be magic
    cheers, John

weird. But you are not the first user to report something like this, and that is both scary *and* dangerous....

OSs should be compartmentalized so that changes in one do not affect the other, for the most part....
