Programs like Adobe Photoshop have an option to save qulity adjustment option, Which windows or MS Paint dont have !
As a free application, you can use IrfanView . That as gives this option.
I see what you're getting at, but it has nothing to do with the quality of the actual photo. If it did, XP would display it just as poorly.
Just so that I get my head round this problem as I have only just got to this thread. Are you saying that if you create a jpeg at a certain size and compression, if you view that in "a program" in Windows 7 then boot into XP in the same machine, use the same program and image file then the XP view looks better quality than the Win 7?
Hmm very unusual there might be a registry hack deep within Windows to adjust the quality... We'll have to have a look into this matter.
I've noticed that zooming in Windows 7 Photo Viewer makes images very pixelated and jagged. No problem zooming on the same pics in XP (dual boot machine). Perhaps a related issue?
Well I've had a look and I can't see the difference (apart from "outlook" trying to resize/compress images) I've done some test's (see image) and the file size/ compression ratio is the same between xp,vista and Win7 I'm a bit
Posted both jpeg and png just to double check, but I see no difference
