Windows 7 - problems viewing .AVI files with MPC Home Cinema x64

From the looks of things it is NV drivers, I am also not interested in downgrading. I just changed AVI's to launch with WMP12 for now and assume the drivers will be fixed at some point, then I will switch back to MPC-HC for AVIs at that time.

I'll have to check this out on my machine since I seem to have the rare video/image problems unrelated to this as well.

Update to this issue, the latest Nvidia drivers fix this issue (it is even claimed so on their website, Release Updates.)
.AVI files now play correctly with MPC (no video stuttering).

Ah, that is a good news.
I never had this issue with ATI card on Windows 7 64bit.

Which version are they fixed?

WHQLs are still 197.45 (Which I have had installed, since first posting in this thread) and when I researched they are known to still have the problem and I still have the problem.

Go to their website, DL the most recent drivers. Read the Release Highlightss included on the DL version.

No, it isn't the codec, it is the EVR Renderer and driver interaction. If you tweaked something in you driver it may not be happening to you, but it has nothing to do with codecs.


Doesn't matter what the text says. 197.45 is still broken. That might have been a fix for something else.

BTW I have found a workaround that really fixes the problem.

Those of you with the AVI heavy stutter on MPC/EVR.

Go to Nvidia Control Panel.
-> Adjust Video Image Settings.
-> Edge Ehanancement
Click "Use the NVIDIA setting"
Turn it up to 1%.

I read about this on NVidia Forum. No one know why it works, but it has fixed the problem for everyone who tried it so far. I speculate with the additional calculation it is forcing the driver to sync properly again.

I tried it and it worked for me. I have tried several AVI and jumping all around in the playback and have not been able to invoke the stutter. I haven't noticed any image degradation from a 1% setting and haven't notice any increased CPU usage either.
