After going through earlier posts - I downloaded KillBox. I could delete the file with the help of KillBox. Sevenforum.com is really helpful.

here is the fix.
Remove "Thumbnail View" on that particular folder containing the large file (a Blu Ray MKV Video File is the usual culprit) and select view List or Detail so the rich preview handler doesn't need to create the thumbnail, this may be a problem trying to change the thumbnail to list or detail when inside the folder, so, right click the folder before opening it , go properties and select Advanced Tab (windows 7) then under the popup titles advanced attributes, UNTICK the selected option saying {Allow Items contained in this folder to be indexed} this also helps.
