ALAC show up as "OTHER MEDIA" in WMP???

I just struggled (until loading Shark's codec's) getting ALAC (apple lossless) files to play in WMP12. This was so I could use WMP media streaming to play my iTunes playlists. This now works. However when I search my music collection I only see about 10% of the files. All of my music (90%) is encoded as APPLE LOSSLESS and they all turn up in OTHER MEDIA in WMP. I have tried various tagging extender packages and none work. Does anyone know how to address this?
    Thanks,
    RA

I'm assuming you must have an iPod, if you're using iTunes and Apple lossless(ALAC)? :)

    Yes.
What are you streaming to, your home stereo system?

I don't know how to make the ALACs visible to WMP, unfortunately....never had an iPod, so I use FLAC for my lossless music.

One potential workaround would be making conversions of them to WMA lossless, which WMP would recognize......but the obvious problem with that is all the extra hard drive space it would eat up to have seperate lossless copies of your tunes.

If it is your home stereo that you wish to stream to, have you considered one of the docks for your iPod, that would connect it to the stereo and charge it at the same time? That would let the music and your playlists play, I think.

I realize none of these ideas exactly solves your original question, but I'm trying to think of anything that might possibly work.

My ipod stays in my car unless I am on a trip. I have my media library on my pc which streams to my stereo. The application I have been using has become quite unruly so I was going to give WMP a try. But it seems like it is too difficult to teach it that Apple Lossless files are actually music. I have other options (other streaming apps) and have already been exploring those options. I was just trying to minimize the number of "services" and "apps" I need to keep running.
    Appreciate your input.
