64 bit filters for MPC HC

I've recently migrated to Windows 7 64 bit and so I've installed the 64 bit version of Media Player Classis Home Cinema along with K-Lite Codec Pack. I've also download this zip file "MPC Standalone Filter 64 bit" and inside there are some ax file.

How do I make use or install those filters?

I would put them somewhere then register them.

But since you already installed MPC HC, you already have them.
They are built into the player.
(But they are only useable by MPC HC, if you register the standalone filters then other players can make use of them.)

I'm using MPC HC too

Would it make a difference for other programs if I register them or does Windows have all the necessary filters to plays video in other programs well?

Windows should have filters to play most files and if anything it can't play MPC-HC should be able to handle it with its built-in internal filters. I would say until you hit something you can't play then look up on it.

One thing WMP12 lacks is the filter to display subtitles but if you are fine with using MPC-HC then its ok as MPC-HC has built-in subtitle filter.
Otherwise to have WMP12 display subtitles you need to register VSfilter.dll.

You still need Quicktime and Real to play their file formats.

I use MPC-HC + ffdshow + Quicktime Alternative + Real Alternative and plays all the files I throw at it.
