Can I sort by image filenames across folders?

I looked through the archives, but couldn't locate any posts that address this particular question. Sorry for any duplication, if I missed something.

I'm a fairly new Win7 user (got this new computer in March), and am trying to organize all my photos. Trouble is, there are duplicates in various folders from my old computer. I know how to arrange the files within folder, but I would like to quickly locate the duplicates regardless of which folder they're in. Is there a way to sort by image name across folders?

Thanks for the welcome, and for the link. I'll give it a try - and will probably be back when I have any questions

Win7 has custom filters which let you search by filetype. To search for images across folders, navigate to the drive they are located in, then in the Search Box at the top right of the explorer window, type either of the following:

    Type:image

kindictures (replace the smiley with p and put a colon after k)

    Hello,

If you want to eliminate duplicate images over multiple files you should try

Duplicate Image Finder, Duplicate Images Finder, Find out dupicate image, Find out dupicate images, Search dupicate image, Search dupicate images

DupDetector will compare the images by pixel not by file name. It also displays
an thumbnail of both images and lets you decide if they are duplicates or not.

The interface is a bit confusing but it does an excellent job and keeps you in control. It will not delete anything unless you tell it to.

Let me know if this helps,
    Richard

Personally, I use Fuzzy Hashing and ssdeep as it can find similar files as well as identical ones, but I'm more of a command line type person myself.
