Windows 7: Ripping specific songs from a CD

Hi. I don't rip very often and last time I did it was with Vista. If memory serves, I'd put a CD in the tray and WMP would open with a list of the tracks and I could tick those I wanted to rip then click 'rip'. Simple. With Windows7, WMP seems most user-unfriendly. Here's what I have on-screen after loading a 3-track CD: Shouldn't there be a 'rip' tab? So far, all I've been able to do is switch to 'Now Playing' where there is a 'rip CD' button. Is there a better way of ripping, one where I can choose which songs to rip? Also, while I'm here, I've been downloading a lot of songs lately and playing them via WMP. After editing (where necessary), I burn to a DVD. But the 'library' is chock full of everything that's ever passed through WMP. Is there a way of preventing songs from going into this library in the first place? Many thanks.

Go to Organize and then select Options. Then, select the Rip Music Tab. Change the Location to your prefered destination, the format whether WMA, MP3 or WAV (MP3 Recommended), and select the Audio Quality (NOTE: Higher Quality takes longer to Rip).

For your second Question ; open WMP right click on desktop and select other options then player tab and then uncheck the add to library boxes.

Thank you, Raid and kodi. I already knew how to find the 'rip music' tab so my settings (lossless, mp3 etc) were already set. I'm kcking myself for not looking under 'Player' so thanks again, kodi. As to my original query, I've sussed it. Once I maximised the WMP screen the 'rip CD' button appeared. Then, when I loaded a CD, the list of tracks appeared with a check box beside each.
