    you can test your net connection at Speedtest.net - The Global Broadband Speed Test

    faster net, more money...it's simple as that:) mine is not from the faster or more expensive ones

    Faster internet connection would enable to transfer more video data.
    However, you can choose the amount of data to be transferred based on the resolution (360p, 480p, 720p).
    The lower the value, the less data gets streamed, so the smoother the video.
    See what results you get with different settings.

    thanks - how do i re-set the resolution for YouTube ~ presumably you don't mean re-set the resolution of my monitor / monitor settings?

    When watching the video on Youtube, look at the lower-right section of the video window. There you see standard 360p and next to it an right-down arrow. These are the lowest settings. Try to experiment with those.

    When watching the video on Youtube, look at the lower-right section of the video window. There you see standard 360p and next to it an right-down arrow. These are the lowest settings. Try to experiment with those.
    this i did - there were 2 options - but neither had any effect

    FLASH automatically determines DSL speed but many other players allow you to select a slightly lower speed than your pc is capable of - this can improve video stability (download) at presumably the loss of some quality: i still don't know how to watch You Tube through other players though, like QuickTime.
