Hi,

Does anyone know how I can get the HD 720p (PAL) 5.6mbps format to appear in the drop down list to save the movies in this format? My Vista pc that I copied the files from has this option in the drop down list so any suggestions for how i can get this format to appear on my windows 7 machine would be appreciated.

Hi topfirniture and welcome to the Forum.
If your video files on the Vista machine have these properties then when you transfer them to the Win 7 machine they will retain the same properties. What is the file extension of the files?

Not sure what you mean by "I dont know which of the movie maker 6.0 files defines these settings".
The file settings are set from the source, ie a camcorder, a still camera that shoots video, downloaded files from the internet, ripped files from a DVD plus many others. Where do your files come from and what do you want to do with them once they are on your PC? Are you intending to edit them?
In your first post you said Vista had the drop down menu option but I think you meant that you were using the program "Windows Movie maker" which has the File As option with a drop don menu. Windows 7 does not come shipped with a version of Windows movie maker but the latest free version is available for download from here:

This post was moved from another thread by the people that run this website but it was supposed to be to do with movie maker 6.0 getting to work on windows 7 which i have now got working by copying the vista file that give me the HD format for the video files on the vista machine but not on windows 7 now even though its using movie maker 6 but its clear that they moved this to the wrong thread so don't worry.

Hi
Don't fully understand what you are getting at as I think this is the correct place for this topic but just to recap, your topic title was "HD 720p (PAL) 5.6mbps format " Whereas your profile shows you as being in a NTSC area not PAL so this might cause you problems.
