best player for watching movie.

    MPC-HC. It has the advantage that you don't have to install it like other players, and doesn't forcibly install video codecs (keeps your system clean with less chance of conflicts/crashing).

    VLC is good for all files, but windows media player is best for basic audio files as it has the playlist on the right.

    WMP (without ant codec) plays mkv ? Have you tried ? I havent seen any wmp to play mkv without codec.

    Actually .mkv and .flv is not played in wmp out of the box. I use shark 007's codec to play mkv in wmp. though I dont like flv to play in my monitor, it it is not online.

    Try another player, like MPC-HC. The HW acceleration should help to decode 1080p videos.

Hey, I am getting this BSOD when watching a movie, usually after around 5-10 mins. At that time GPU temperature is at about 70 deg. So not sure whats the fault. 64bit Windows 7. PC bought about 2 years ago, it's Quad core. 210489
