    PowerDVD and BluRay Playback

I have CyberLink Powerdvd10 Ultra, I was able to play BluRays at one time, but now i am getting and message to Update, but when i download the patch it says it cannot install because a .dll file is missing, reinstalling the program might fix the problem... Ive done that over and over. Any Ideas?

I've got the Cyberlink PowerDvd 9 Ultra...maybe can you tell what's the name of the .dll missing? Could zip it to you....and you'll have to register the .dll after.

    I've got both in System32 & SysWOW64 the Mfc40u.dll & Mfc40.dll + Mfc42u.dll & Mcf42.dll.
    But no MFC71U.DLL.

BUT, I do have it in:
    C:\Program Files(x86)\Cyberlink\PowerDVD9\OLRSubmission\
    C:\Program Files(x86)\Cyberlink\PowerDVD9\PowerDVDCinema\

It is the Version 7.10.3077.0 dated 2009.

I have zip it for you! Right Click the file, "Property" then unlock the file. Paste it in those folder.

    To register your .dll:

    -Open an elevated command prompt
Start > Search for "cmd" > Right Click cmd.exe > Run as Administrator
    Execute this command:

    regsvr32 "%programfiles%\Cyberlink\PowerDVD10\OLRSubmission\MFC71u.dll

    and

    regsvr32 "%programfiles%\Cyberlink\PowerDVD10\PowerDVDCinema\MFC71u.dll

then try to reinstall if the Cyberlink folders are created.

From my research, MFC71U.DLL is located in the system32 folder and is a Microsoft Foundations Classes (MFC) file for use in applications that are created in MS Visual Studio. It is not a Cyberlink PowerDVD specific file, so you may be trying to fix the wrong problem.

You might want to run "sfc /scannow" in the command prompt to check your system files for corruption.

Should that not fix the problem, you might want to see if this other person's suggestion might work for you:

need help w/ error message MFC71U.DLL...Please.

Looks the only App to use at the moment this Mfc71u.dll & Mfc71.dll is only Cyberlink PowerDVD on a Windows 7 OS, so no need in system32 & SysWOW64 to regulate the prob mentionned by the OP.

By the way those .dll are located in both folders, not only System32.

Maybe someone can confirm at least for those:

    -Mfc40u.dll & Mfc40.dll (only in sysWOW64 folder) + Mfc42u.dll & Mcf42.dll

    -Mfc42u.dll & Mcf42.dll (in both folder).

Might help to know the config on other Windows 7 x64...as i could be wrong

So far my computer have no issue at all with those, since the beginning and PowerDVD9 Ultra, "patched & updated" just work fine in my config.

Thanks for the input & link.

Ps: Apply this first...before sfc/scannow or my solution, then come back to us and tells us if i had work for you. Thanks.

"go to My Computer or Windows Explorer and find your way to C:\Windows\System32\ now look for the file MFC71U.DLL and right click on it and select Rename .. add old to the beginning (oldMFC71U.DLL). Go back to your desktop and open the zipped file (open it to desktop)> copy the file to C:\Windows\System32\ shut down the windows and reboot. The problem should be gone."
