Proliferating Thumbnail Folders of jpg and mts files

In my Pictures and Videos folders, Win 7 Home Premium 64, I'm getting swamped with thumbnail folders (for example: photoname.jpg.files) with two jpg thumbnails of the every photo or video named "vcm_s_kf_m160_160x120.jpg" and "vcm_s_kf_repr_832x624.jpg". I've tried every method to hide them and I've tried deleting them to no avail.

I have now managed to get them hidden on my local drive so I don't have to see them, but every photo and video has a thumbnail folder and two thumbnails on all my backups, USBs and online backup service. If I try and burn a DVD or CDR, it's filled with these thumbnail folders.

How can I stop these things from being copied to backups, kill them or stop them from being generated? I've asked my online backup service for ideas (no clue), Sony Vaio support (restore the computer to an earlier time - did that, no help), ran virus and malware scans, checked Vaio Care for proper settings and posted this on Microsoft Answers (no one has responded).

Thanks, Pat

Has anyone responded? So far it's supposedly in the Vaio Analysis - whatever that is because I can't find it. Your post over a year ago and I still don't see a solution posted.
