Windows 7 - Browser has to re-sort Jpegs before saving file

Browser has to re-sort Jpegs before saving file

I have had no luck googling this "problem". My picture folder contains several thousand jpegs. When I open it in Windows Explorer, the jpegs are displayed as I have instructed (by last modified). But when I am using a browser (Firefox or IE) and try to save a pic to that folder, the thumbnails first appear in alphabetical order and then they are re-sorted to last modified. This takes several seconds. It's a little frustrating, and if I click on a jpeg too soon, I find I'm taken to the middle of the pack.

Any suggestions?

Thanks in advance.

This is an issue I've noticed as well, and I'm not quite sure how to fix it. I would think that in order to "fix" it, we should probably click in the save window and order it by alphabetical (which is what it wants to do natively).

I just tried doing that, and it appears that ordering them by alphabet in the save dialog window doesn't affect their display order when viewed in other programs and explorer windows. While it's not a very satisfactory address of the actual problem as I still don't know what it is, that may be the kind of fix needed for this issue.

Well, I save a lot of pics that are in series, and it is helpful to have the last saved pop up immediately so that I can use its name. In XP this is not a problem. I'm just surprised that more people haven't noticed this.

I know I could shorten the wait time if I reduced the size of the directory, but it would be a lot easier if Seven just worked like XP, and in this case, like it should.

To me, this kind of problem should/would be addressed via a "change default display order" for windows save dialog boxes. Now, that could vary by the file types in the folder, the folders themselves (whether they are "optimized" for certain file types), etc. so I'm really at a loss as to how we'd go about fixing this or finding a workaround.

Hopefully someone else can chime in with some other thoughts or ideas.
