Windows 7: itunes freezes on Win 7 64 bit

i just got win 7 and installed the latest itunes (9.2). the installer was 64 bit but when it came to installing, it read x86.

it installed fine but when i tried to change some preferences, it froze. i find that this keeps freezing.

any ideas how to fix this?

Reinstall iTunes.

First uninstall it and then reinstall it.

Get the download from iTunes 9.2 for Windows (64 bit).

This sounds like something wasn't quite right during installation.
