Win 7 and slow picture/thumbnail viewing?

I have quite a few folders, with quite a few photos contained in them. When viewing these, and this happens even with folders that have as few as 20 pictures....it takes FOREVER to load thumbnails....and even then it might take a minute to view the actual picture when I double click on it.

When I had XP it would fly through this process. I've been thrilled with 7 up to this point, any help?

Someone suggested that MSE could be the culprit.

I just tried uninstalling MSE, and that didn't make a difference at all. So it's something else.

This is driving me crazy. Everything else works fine. I just can't view hardly any pictures in any folders without the thing going crazy. It slows down EVERYTHING when trying to view pictures. I've got a folder open that has 20 pictures, that is STILL not populated with thumbnails. It's just got that green bar going across the top of the panel.

Even then, when I double click on a picture, it takes forever for it to actually show me the picture.

No yellow markers. Graphics card works fine in all other areas, and when I play BFBC2.

I just built the PC back in February. i7920 OC'd to 4.2 with a WEI of 7.4

I'm not sure if the computer is the problem. I appreciate the response though!! Anyone else?

I just tried to open up a picture folders, and now when I click my computer, nothing comes up. It's just a blank window. It's like it's still trying to read that picture folder. That green bar scrolls across and it just takes forever. Even when I try and shut the computer down, it just takes forever after I've opened a picture folder. This is driving me nuts. I can still hear the HDD searching, and the light stays on.

I have a feeling this has to do with the location of your pictures folder. Are you using the default User name>My pictures folder location? Did you relocate the Homegroups pictures folder by any chance?

Nope, but the pictures folder I'm trying to view is on another drive that is NOT on my system drive.

It's not "My Pictures". It's on a storage drive I formatted and bought when I set up this rig. Any ideas?

The "My Pictures" folder works just fine BTW.

Anyone? This is terrible.

Go to the My Pictures folder.
Rightclick, choose, new | shortcut, and setup a shortcut to the pics on the other hdd
Use this shortcut to access the pics.

That worked perfectly!!!! How/Why is this possible!?!?!?
