Iphone video clips play sideways in WMP

THis may well be one of the most common glitches facing WMP, but MS is clueless so there is no fix (codec) to set Iphone vids upright in WMP.

When you follow the web tutorials to rotate clip using Live Movie Maker, it saves the clip in .wlmp format which won't even play in WMP.

Then if you try to "Publish movie" there is no option but "Send to Youtube" or "Add Codec" which opens a gibberish page, or trying to "Save Movie" every option results in "Device is not ready" error.

Hey Jack -

Yeah I started with that thread but where it leads is to using Live Movie Maker to rotate the clip, then it saves to a format that WMP cannot play.

Another thread says to then generate or save the Movie, but neither of those options work to create the promised compatible file.

Anyone know how to break through this logjam? MS is so asleep at the switch now you wonder if they want to send people to Quicktime unnecessarily.

I don't have picasa but the first comment after the quicktime sales pitch on this

page suggests you can use that.

I wonder if you can do it in live photo gallery? It has a rotate feature.

Just a thought.
