Btw I built a .jpg and .png and .jpeg reg stuff and uploaded it here: Free Cloud Storage - MediaFire
Enjoy guys! =)
I like that fact that you got .jpg, .png, .jpeg for the gif viewer (I like using one program) but how do I get those to work all the come up as is text documents. ? What do you mean they come up as txt docs? Have you tried just renaming them to .txt, and then changing the file extension back to .reg? That should work..

please help I still see this. I did figure out how to associate other image files with this without a script or reg hack--simply point to c:\shimgvw.dll (you'll have to pick "all files" first). However, .gif files show blank icons like that when using List or Details view. List is my default--is there a way to fix this? Some kind of icon--ANY icon--would look better than this. Overall a very nice prog though, just trying to get it tweaked just right. Yeah, the only thing I've found to work is to set the default back to default viewer, and then opening stuff with Windows 7 Gif using the rightclick > openwith menu =/ which kind of sucks. But at least nothing's broken, and I can see the tiles properly... cept GIFs, those I have defaulted to Windows 7 Gif 100% of the time... | My System Specs |

And I tired to change jpg. to open with Windows 7 Gif viewer, But all I get is a error message saying "blank.jpg is not a vaild Win32 application." | My System Specs | | OS Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit. |

2) Open With...
3) Browse
4) Navigate to root directory: C:\
5) Select "All Files" from file type box
6) Select shimgvw.dll (this is the "program" that is Windows 7 GIF Viewer)
7) Make sure "always use this program" is selected.

First of all, allow me to say "Excellent work goofwear!" I'm so glad to have this fix to view images with.
I came looking for a way to view animated gifs and I also followed the guide to use your viewer as the default program for all image files and it works great!
I do have one question/issue though. I have a healthy amount of files on my machine that are hidden (mostly from my children) and when I have windows set up to "Show hidden files and folders" your viewer will display these files, but won't scroll through them.
Is there a way to easily fix that? If not, it's okay. It isn't that much of a bother to switch the hidden attribute on and off for groups of files.
Thanks again! | My System Specs | | |

I know I'm a bit late but to change the .gif icons back to the default ones you just have to change a registry entry.
Go to:
[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\GIFImage.Document\DefaultIcon]
and replace "shimgvw.dll" with "%SystemRoot%\\System32\\imageres.dll,-71" | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number Custom built OS Windows 7 Ultimate CPU Intel Core i5 2400 Motherboard ASUS P8P67 Rev. 3 Memory 8GB G.Skill RipJawsX DDR3-1600 Graphics Card PowerColor HD 6950 Vortex II 2 GB Sound Card Creative X-Fi XtremeGamer Monitor(s) Displays Dell U2311H / BenQ G2400WD Screen Resolution 1920x1080 Keyboard SteelSeries 7G Mouse SteelSeries Xai PSU Corsair AX750 Case Antec Solo Cooling Thermalright Ultra-120 eXtreme Rev.
