Windows 7: MS Photo Editor

Well, this sounded simpler to me than the advice of RAS230, but when I tried it, I got an error message which said "No file format information can be found in the Registry". It would not open pictures. (I don't actually have MS Office on the computer.)

A patched version of the Photoed executable file has been posted online. The edited version supports larger image sizes, behaves better when minimized/restored, and handles high zoom factors in 32 bit displays for pixel editing. It is available at

Hello! I believed the trick did not work in Windows 7 64bit, but...
I noticed (thanks to sysinternals.com) that the system changes the registry keys
for 32bit programs, and you must add after "HKLM\SOFTWARE", this: "\Wow6432Node",
in all keys of your "photoed.reg", for example:
HKLM\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Microsoft\Shared Tools\Graphics Filters\Export\
