I have my PC on 24/7 but I have a custom sleep mode that will put the monitor to sleep after 2 mins and the pc to sleep after 3 mins, the modem is on all the time. I do though turn of my TV and satalite decodec off at the mains of a night though, so I think I save more energy than if i done it the other way round.

I should also add that I do recycle a lot, and try my best not to waste energy so having my PC on sleep mode is not so bad I think.
