Windows 7: Remote desktop wont connect to desktop.

Remote desktop wont connect to desktop.

I have a desktop HP (windows 7) and a new macbook pro 15 on which i am running both mac os x and windows 7. I can connect from my desktop to my laptop using remote desktop connection but not the other way around. I have a network set up and can see the computers are connected. I opened port 3389, enabled remote access on both machines, turned off firewall, avg, everything but nothing works. Whenever i try to connect it says initiating remote connection for a while then says 1) remote access is to the server is not enabled 2) the remote computer is turned off, 3) the remote computer is not available on the network. Btw both machines have Win 7 Ultimate. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I would try downloading this application and see if you still have the same problems.

Using option 2 in the link below will show you how to set the other Windows 7 machine to accept the remote connection. AVG may be causing this problem even though it's turned off.

i already tried that and i get an error message.

the first time is make sure you're on the same class IP address.
and did you already try to ping on the command prompt. does it reply?

Actually I would try what chev65 is suggesting... seeing how you want to use Remote Desktop.

Tried it and it says configuring remote session but it wont go past that.

tried pinging and it replies on both machines

did you already enable the remote desktop?? from computer > right click go to properties and remote tab.
check the remote connect and you also can set the permission on there.
