virtual machine on desktop sharing with laptop @home via router

Please help if you have guidance / steps / instructions / or any helpful comments on this! Especially you experts out there or any1 who has tried this!

I have a Windows 7 pro desktop and on it I run a windows XP virtual machine (vmware player spawned from xp mode). This virtual machine can access the internet just fine.

Also at home, I have a regular laptop with Windows 7 pro on it.

Can I network the two?
Can I share/sync files/folders between the two using MS synctoy?
If i can do the above...well how do i do it? (i havent the slightest clue)

(really would like to see what windows is capable of in my home and really set on the virtual machine usage)

PLEASE HELP!
