    Bizarre problem: Gadget Network Access

I have just moved from Beta to RC and while it looked like everything is OK, I'm having this strange problem where my Weatherbug and XM gadgets will not work UNLESS I connect to a VPN. I have disabled the firewall, purged the DNS cache, disabled / re-enabled the NICs, but the problem remains. I have tried this on multiple networks on both my Ethernet and wireless connections (Dell D630 notebook) and get the same result. Any ideas? I'm not even sure where to start looking!

One more thing: I did perform an upgrade install from Beta x64 to RC x64 instead of the "demanded" clean install.

    Thanks!

well there may be your first mistake. You're not going to find alot of ppl who are on x64 that have upgraded from beta to RC and have a somewhat similar setup. Thats the longshot horse of the race there.

If you had a beta build of say the new Halo or whatever, and it was a little buggy, and MS said they fixed some issues and done some changes... are you going to "upgrade" over the top of a beta game with another install of a "fixed" version?

For what it's worth, on both my systems here that have excellent connectivity with everything else, Weatherbug sometimes likes to act up and not connect well. It's really been hit or miss, intermittent. There is definitely something that could be improved with that gadget or their servers I suspect.
