    Connectivity Issues

Ok, I'll start by saying that I have trawled the internet for weeks attempting to find a solution to my problem, and have tried so many things that I've finally decided to just ask for some help. Furthermore I am sure this is a computer problem and not the router or ISP, as all other computers on the network work, the problem persists on multiple networks, and as the problem computer is the only one running Windows 7, I believe the issue lies within the OS somewhere.

Here's my problem, it comes in two parts. The first is with my wireless connection (Using a Netgear WN111v2 Wireless Adapter to a Netgear DGN2000 Router) , which works fine most of the time, but if there is too much traffic going through it, e.g. downloads plus streaming plus online gaming, then it goes to limited connectivity. I've read a lot of forum posts with a similar problem to this one, with solutions suggesting turning off IPv6, disabling the IP Helper and a plethora of other things, only one of these seemed to help, which was disabling the NetBIOS over TCP, however this only seemed to increase the amount of data allowed to be transmitted before the same disconnection problem occurred. I previously experienced this same problem using a different router (a Thompson) and a different ISP, in a different location. However, since changing location I am unable to use any games online; while it will appear that I am connected to the internet in-game, no games will be found, and no other users recognised as being online.

My second problem is using my wired connection (Using an Intel(R) 82567V-2 Gigabit Network Connection to the same router) where it fails to identify that there is a router there to connect to, and simply switches between "Identifying" and "The Network Cable is Unplugged" on the adapter.

I have updated drivers for everything, tried using older versions, gone through many apparent fixes that worked for other people with similar symptoms, disabled all firewalls and antivirus programs and yet I am still stuck with an inability to game online, or experience a reliable internet connection.
Any help or advice anyone could offer will be greatly appreciated, this problem is simply beyond my ability to diagnose or fix.
    Thank You

Sounds like your network card could be bad, since you have done a VERY thorough job eliminating everything else. Good job on that.

Also, I would GUESS that your ISP is throttling your network access, so if you haven't asked about that, I would.

Hehe, cheers, at least I've done a thorough job.

Not the news I wanted to hear, but I guess I'll look into getting a new network card. And here I was hoping a fix wouldn't cost my poor self any money.

If this is a desktop, you could get a PCI network card and see if this fixes the problem. If it is on a laptop, I would look into getting it checked.

From what I read about your Netgear DGN2000 Router, it seems to have problems working correctly with Windows 7. There are many similar complaints all over the internet about this routers lack of functionality with Windows 7. Updating the firmware is your best bet for getting it to work but no guarantee's on that.

The adaptor you are using WN111v2 has been a problem with Windows 7 for a long time now. I've seen more complaints about that particular adaptor than any other one. I've tried to track down functioning drivers for that adaptor many times but there just aren't any drivers that can make it work right with Windows 7. It's a been there done that type of deal with no clear resolution.

Yeah I've read about those same problems, and while I found drivers which made the adapter work to some level, it isn't quite right still. Unfortunately with hardware as the issue I have no money to replace anything, this was my last try to see if there was a cheap fix, as it is I'm just going to have to wait till I can afford to upgrade to Windows 7 compatible hardware.
