    Network Status

My network is set to unknown, and also says unidentified network which is preventing my computer to connect to the internet. If I set my network to home will that fix the situation?

Certain types of outdated hardware will cause these type of problems to occur. Because of this sometimes it's required that you type in the default gateway manually into your IPv4 properties window. The link below shows you how to do this. After you get that done you can use the next link to set as public or private or you can set to work or home.

Yes I went through all these steps and still no success. I entered the default gateway into my IPv4 properties and still cant get a connection. Would it help if I pasted my ipconfig?

Yes it will help determine if this is a router problem or not. ipconfig /all will show more details.
