    Do you unplug your router when your away on vacation?


    If you were to be way for over a week would you unplug your router?

    Yes, just in case there was a bad electrical storm while I was away. It's probably not necessary, but better safe than sorry.

    I generally don't; but I think I will start. When I got home after two weeks, my router was fried. Remember to unplug it from the telephone line or cable also.

    Unplug modem to? BTW you should get a surge protector.

    I do have a surge protector. It will not protect against lightning strikes.

    I unplug mine whenever I'm not using it, whether I'm away or not.

    I don't see the point of leaving it plugged-in personally.

    If I un-plugged the router when I was away I would not be able to remote into my system.

    Haven't had a vacation in over 3 years as I am spending all my time trying to teach this animal to stop saying NO to everything.
