    Weird Connection Problems

Okay, so i'm perfectly sure my connection is working because i can play project torque (online), dload torrents, and browse (with opera & firefox) - without any problems.

but i'm having trouble with some apps like desktop gadgets (weather thingy in particular...) IE8, and Yahoo Messenger 8

i've been searching google for a while and no results yet, i've also asked windows7 itself and found no problems!

what do i do now? my main concern is just to connect Yahoo Messenger 8....

    i'm on dual-boot (xp & win7 build 7000) - 32bit

Copied and pasted from a post I made in another thread:

"For what it's worth, on both my systems here that have excellent connectivity with everything else, Weatherbug sometimes likes to act up and not connect well. It's really been hit or miss, intermittent. There is definitely something that could be improved with that gadget or their servers I suspect."

In IE8 which may also affect Yahoo Messenger and other things as well, go to tools | internet options | connections tab | LAN settings and make sure none of the boxes there are checked (assuming you currently do not use a proxy, of course.)
