Windows 7: wireless issues

I have a new toshiba a660-047 laptop and can't connect wirelessly to my network at home. Laptop has windows 7 and home comp has windows xp is this the reason?

Can you see the network in the Wireless Networks list for your wireless adapter?

no this isnt the reason, maybe one network is set to only allow g and the other is set to b?

did your configure a MAC id to the router

open command prompt, type:
netsh int ip reset reset.log
then type:
netsh winsock resest
after both of those, reboot computer.
if you still can't log on to your wireless, check the wireless router settings.
for test purposes, disable router security, mac filtering, etc and try to connect.
