Running a ping -t to my router, you can see the connection drops right out,

I plugged in my laptop to the same hub with ping -t and connection is fine.

No errors in event log. How do i trap what's going on? Ive tried to download updated driver for nic, which worked, although it doesn't look very recent.

Any ideas what it might be?

Have you tried to update the firmware on the router yet?

Old NIC drivers that weren't made for Windows 7 can also cause these types of problems, sometimes the old XP or Vista drivers will work, other times not.

Hmm ive tried the driver install from ATHEROS COMMUNICATIONS and the driver is listed as Windows Vista/7 X64 driver.
Also seems to cause connection to drop when i haven't browsed web for while, click on a link network connection instantly dies.

Firmware on router up to date.

Do you remember installing or un-installing any software around May? How about hardware, or USB peripherals?

The light on the router becomes orange and then green Can the cause be a faulty microfilter (because apparently it can. I read it in computer active)
