I have windows update turned off but it keeps automatically installing the realtek drivers on reboot. Any idea how to turn this off?

It's showing two nic cards in networking (correct?). You can right click on the 8185 and select disable. Right click on the other nic to make sure it is enabled. Sorry this has been a pain in the butt.

Until I think of a way to stop it, go ahead and try updating the driver out rebooting after uninstalling the old one. Sometimes the install goes okay. We just recommend uninstalling the old driver, followed by a reboot to make sure nothing goes wrong in the process.

The 8185 is the wireless device. This is the one I wanted to try to disable. What think ye, Petey?
It sounds like he wants wireless, so I think having the wired disabled and the wireless enabled is the best route for right now.
It must be getting late, b/c i'm not sure and am getting slap happy

I got the drivers that I downloaded installed successfully, but it still won't connect to the router. I'm so frustrated. I logged back into the bios and enabled the onboard LAN so I can hardwire and connect to the router to mess with the router settings. Any thoughts?

PROBLEM RESOLVED! At least for now, right?

Anyone else following along this whole thread, good luck on your own.

    Recap:

Dlink DIR-615 wont connect with a wireless Realtek 802.11b/g Extensible device. Ran all the proper diagnostics but the problem persisted. The one thing I did not try was to make the router broadcast ONLY in 802.11g... since the router can only handle 802.11g. So easy to overlook. Anyway, it works fine now. Didn't need any special drivers or patchwork with the bios. I was just about to go buy a new wireless adapter too!

Petey7 is truly a Jedi Master, thx for all the help. Lemur, ur a champ too.

Good work my friend. I was wondering if this was the solution but I was holding off on that one.

Glad to hear everything has been resolved. If you need any other help, sevenforums is always here.
