Mapped Drive Password not remembered

When I mount a drive from my OSX box from Win7 the password is never remembered

Explorer -> Tools -> Map Network drive
Pick drive letter
Folder: \\ip.to.osx\foldername
Reconnect at logon checked
Connect using different credentials checked

But when I reboot or come back from sleep it always prompts me for credentials

So I have to require password on wake in order for it to save passwords to mapped drives?

I have a XP machine running as a server. Each of the Windws 7 machines have several mapped drives to the server (Eg Games, Music, etc).
In order to remember the passwords after a reboot I found I had to add an entry in the credential manager.

The persistence has to be enterprise. I found that "sometimes" Windows created a credential but didn't work, so deleting it and recreating the entry solved the problem.

Credntial manager is accessible via control panel (I use small icon views), but if u use category view it's under user accounts and family safety.

You specify the username and password for the share you are connecting to and it will stick.

Aha! Thank you, I did not know about this.

Turns out I had 2 entries for my mac computer name, 1 under windows credentials with computername\username and "login session" while under generic had just username and enterprise.

I removed the duplicate/incorrect one

Well removing it wasn't the correct thing to do, hehe oops. Couldnt reconnect after a reboot so I just removed all instances, disconnected the drive, and started fresh

Today it prompted for a password again.

Is there some kind of expiration date somewhere on credentials?

Would making my username/password the same on the mac as my pc get around this?

No, there is no expiration date on the credentials. But there could be on the either of the systems.

Basically, you have to choose between security and simplicity. I used a strong password on both systems, set them to never expire. The username and password are the same on both systems (not because they have to be, just because it's less confusing), and I dont have a problem with the credentials being remembered.

If you set passwords to expire, the credentials will not work when the password changes, obviously.

Passwords have not expired, and you have not done a system restore or something else to roll back settings, and persistence is Enterprise, and the account is not disabled or locked, you have not disconnected/reconnected the drive?

I searched google, it seems to be a common problem, but the answer was almost always the credential vault. I don't know much about OSX, but I do have a Linux system, and this works fine with that system.
