Password questions about accessing other Win7 PC's over a home network

    Howdy,

We have a total of 5 PC's running Win7, all are Home Premium except for one which is Professional. When I connect from my laptop to the PC running Professional via the Network, I am not required to log-in... i.e., no username and password are required.

But when I connect from any of the other Win7 computers on the network, I AM REQUIRED to log-in. That creates problems when one of those machines wants to use a shared device on the Win7 Professional PC...

How do I setup the Win7 Professional PC so it does not ask for a username and password from the other machines? I don't know what I did initially to make it so my Laptop doesn't need to login... Guess I did it by accident.

    Many thanks in advance!

    Doug

There should be a save password option when you connect to a network resource that requires a password.

It is also possible you setup a network folder and saved the password.

So when you directly type it in your system assumes the credentials already set for that network share.

Under the Advanced sharing setting there is an option for password protected sharing on or off. Check to make sure it's turned off in both the Work-Home and Public Advanced sharing menus. :)
