Copy Files When Homegroup is available

I have a laptop networked using Homegroup to a main desktop PC. I mostly use the laptop without the main desktop turned on so there is no Homegroup running the majority the of time.

What I would like to be able to do is to automatically copy a file from the laptop, overwriting the same file on the main desktop and copy two files from the main desktop onto the laptop overwriting them whenever the Homegroup becomes available.

I thought this might be a job for Sync Centre or maybe the Task Scheduler, but not really sure. Looking at Sync Centre options / Setup new sync partnerships, the only option available is - Other (1) SQL Server 2008. So I have drawn a blank, so far.

Is there an event in Task Scheduler that detects that HomeGroup is available?

    Hi Sean

Have you had a look at Sync Toy?

I'm not sure what you mean by the question - do you mean that you want to schedule a time at which you would like to have the Homegroup detection and sync functions carried out?

    Hope this helps

Ah thanks. It looks like SyncToy will do the trick. I am having a play around with it now. Seems that you can get it do stuff from the command line and schedule it to do Sync everything. :)
