I have recently purchased an Xbox which has a Wifi connection built into it. I can access internet and download via Xbox live. The strngth of the connection to the router seems pretty good
I have also tried to set up Media Centre and have one through the relevant instructions and can successfully connect to my PC to view photos, video etc, however the connection is very poor according to the XBOX and sometimes drops off.
My Set up is a PC with a Thomson V585 v7 wireless router connected via ethernet with one additional PC connecting wirelessly and an XBOX
I dont quite understand how the broadband can have a strong connection whilst the network is weak?
Are there any settings checks I can perform to improve this

Is your computer hardwired to the router or wireless? Are they both in the same room, or close to the router? Sometimes, distance playes a huge role, and so does how many barriers the signal has to travel through.

The computer is hardwired to teh PC and teh Xbox is downstairs
The downloading of content from Xbox is good but it i just when you try to use media center and stream content from PC to Xbox tht the connection i poor.
I have read that a 802.11n router might be a better option or adding in a additional antennae?

I suggest changing the channels of the router. Routers will have 11 channels to choose from.
Sometimes, it is the environment itself. Upgrading to an 802.11n router might help you with this issue. When selecting an 802.11n router, i suggest getting the one with 3 antennas.

Kwack,
Check out this article. Same issue as yours and they solved it. Go to the first post and read up from there. You may have to do some things before others so it always helps to read the whole thread before you start anything.
