New Directory is Access Denied to Network [SOLVED]

    Created a directory d:\Videos.

Shared it with Everyone with full read/write/change permissions.

Despite being totally open to the (home) network, I cannot access it.

I suspect this will always be the case with a new directory. How can I remove the padlock? I must have been able to do it before as there are no problems with directories which are already shared, but I don't recall having this difficulty when setting these up.

Have you tried going into the Security settings? When sharing drives you need to set up the standard permissions and also the security settings will need some adjusting.

I fiddled with it further and finally got the padlock off it without having to touch security. Thanks for your interest.
