Hi, need to get some files FROM LEOPARD 10.6? Homegroup

    Homegroups returns an error.

Any idea how to get some files?

I have some files on the mac (everything connected via router) that I want to get on to the windows machine.

I saw, on the Mac, for a moment, the name of this (WINDOWS 7) computer, then it was gone, have file sharing turned on on the mac.

When I try to make a HOME CONNECTIOn, i get an error, tryed deleting idstore but that did not work.

Any ideas? Connected with a ethernet cable, couldn't figure it out.

Just need to large 2 GB files from MAC to PC.

    Thanks

I don't use Homegroup, but I'm pretty sure it's only for Windows 7, meaning you can't use it to transfer from Leopard to Windows 7 or vice versa.

Not sure about that, on the mac groups they are saying use a smb command, which if the machines are on the same network you type on the mac, smb://thenameofthePC and it works, problem on my end is I cannot create HOMEGROUPS nor can I get any of the advance file sharing settings to stick, example, if I turn ON DISCOVER network then click save and go back, it doesn't take.

Is there anything for windows like there is on a mac that repairs permissions or whatever you would call it for windows?

    Thanks.

I'm thinking there is a problem with my install. The real nightmare is on the PC, I don't have a DVD drive and I can't burn the files onto DVD (pointless), as well, I have a MAC external FIREWIRE hard drive which I would have thought would show up in windows (it does, but only in MANAGE, but never as an accessible hard drive) so am running out of optiosn. I have to get these music files onto the PC for a project.

    Any advice helpful

I Did, think of that. LOL.
That's when I decided, since I don't have one, I will start uploading last night, was done before I went to bed, still, would have been nice to get network or home groups to work, or smb, but the more I play with this, the more I realize, its not right or something, its corrupt?

Every time I try certain things, I get an error, not all the time, but ever since I did a system restore, wish there were some REPAIR program like Apple has repair permissions, there is nothing quite like that for windows huh>? Leaps and bound experience above XP, different from Apple, but still pretty cool..
