Windows 7: Puzzling LAN/DNS fault

17 Sep 2010   #11

Windows 7 home premium 64 bit

I disabled keyword logging and any site blocking as one of the first things i did when i was checking the router.

Changed the IPv4 settings with no difference. The system does seem to be a bit faster though and ive lost a few of the loading hangups i was getting.

Looks like i'm going to have to bite the bullet and buy a new modem.

On the plus side after five days my ISP got back to me with a checklist of how to solve this by clearing the cache in IE6 and XP

Windows 7 Ult, Windows 8.1 Pro,

Yes it appears as if your router isn't obtaining the DNS server quite right but the ipconfig looked ok which is strange. I'd say that a hardware update is in order.

Puzzling 50/50 hang at "Starting Windows"
What's puzzling is that all of a sudden, I need a two-step process to boot normally into 64-bit Windows 7 SP1. When I first try to boot up normally, I will only get to the "Starting Windows" page, and then it will go no further, no matter how long I wait. But if I then boot into Safe Mode, and...

Puzzling Permissions Quandary
My son just recently sent away for (how sad that you just can't go to a store and buy) a Windows 7 desktop from HP. His old XP was becoming more trouble than it was worth. So I went over to his place, took the HD out of the XP PC and put it in an empty bay on the 7, and showed him how he now...

Puzzling Active partition situation
I've got a Win7 Ultimate, 32bit installation that was upgraded from Vista Business 32bit. Everything is working pretty well, with the exception that the machine doesn't reliably go into hibernation by itself - though I can send it there via command line, and it recovers from hibernation with no...

A puzzling glitch with installing downloaded programs
I have Windows 7 32 bit OS. The PC runs well and I have checked the memory and keep the machine clean from viruses and garbage using Advanced System Care and Avast. Here is what happens. I download a software program and when the download completes, I click on run and the little blue circle starts...
Puzzling Questions About I.E 9
I am unable to use IE9 as I would really like to becuase of a couple of websites that I have to use each day will not work in IE9. My question is this. At what point do the programmers come to the conclusion that maybe we should make this work for the latest IE? Is it after RC, RTM or what?...
