For instance, I use SecureCRT myself, even if I am doing simple telnet,
I used to use SecureCRT at my last place as we were licensed for it. But for my basic needs, I cannot justify the cost of the software.

IIRC - there isn't even a telnet client include in Win7.
It just doesn't install by default. You have to turn it on from Windows features.

I purchased SecureCRT for myself, and even the older versions work fine for what I need. As for IPSec, that is well and good, although surprised that there are still people using basic telnet sessions business wise as the only other terminal based interface I have seen are the 3270 Telnet sessions which are not part of the basic windows Telnet Session.

Like I said, I use mine for
1). telnetting to a port to see if open
2). telnetting to a mail relay and trying to push a message through it to ensure it's working.

Other than that, for me, it's almost all SSH

Windows features are not listed in the dialogue box of turn on or off windows features. Basically I want to activate the telnet port on my Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit machine. Also please advise on the pkgmgr and DISM features in case the telnet feature is not installed on my machine. Thank you.
