Simple LAN, no Internet connection, doesn't work
I'm working on a system using a simple TCP/IP LAN with no internet connection. The current system uses Windows XP with a fixed IP address, no DHCP and running a software connecting to sub-components (UNIX and hardware controllers) through TCP/IP. It is setup to handle small real-time data packets that could be easily handled by a 10 years old Windows system.
I installed Windows 7 Ultimate and setup a simple LAN connection with a fixed IP address and turned of both public and home firewalls off. I'm loosing real-time data packets like crazy. Either the network configuration is wrong (BTW, trying to setup a simple LAN network is a bigger task than trying to connect on a WiFi connection on Windows 7!) or Windows 7 is trying to "protect" me against my will.
Is there some (relatively) easy documentation on how to setup a simple, stupid, closed LAN with no overprotection from Windows 7?

I understand that most problems posted here have something to do with home use of Windows 7, but is there any tech support here?
The problem still persists. I'm logged in as the built-in Administrator and connected to a standard network switch with a fixed IP address, no DHCP. Other devices are connected to the same switch and communication is done through TCP sockets. Unfortunately, the Windows 7 machine drops or refuses data packets and sometimes freezes our application. The same app works fine with Win 2000, Win Server 2003/2008, Win XP and Vista. The app is run as Admin. Does anyone has a clue about this horible network performance in Windows 7?
