Xp Internet no longer works under win 7

    Ok

I just made the switch from xp to win 7 ultimate (64) and everything is working great exept the Internet, inside my computer I have a dlink DGE-530t I installed the driver on the cd, I also have a cable modem from videotron plugged in a dlink wireless router (with good win7 64 bit driver!

Windows can't establish a connection "invalid ip adress" 3 hours ago that setup worked flawlessly under Xp and the funny thing is my Internet works just fine! I'm writing this on my iPhone via my own wifi !!!

I hope someone will help me, thank you

I would uninstall the PCI driver in device manager then let Windows 7 install it's own drivers and also update the firmware on your router. That is a 17 dollar PCI network card so there may be better options you can use.

I will go buy a new/better network card then and try re-installing latter because I need my computer ! In the mean time I am already re-installing Xp :-( . Belive it or not the DGE 530t is almost the only thing you can find around here, walmart, bestbuy and all the others don't have anything else !

As soon as I find a suitable one I will keep you posted on how thing goes!!
Thank you for the reply, really appreciated !

The CD drivers hardly ever work right because most likely that PCI card same out long before Windows 7 did. Also if you have an older machine finding the right eithernet drivers can be a chore.

The drivers that Win 7 installs have the best chance of working. Other than that, if you have an older router it can help to update the firmware. You couldn't pay me enough to go back to XP LOL.

I have a Dell xps system that I purchased in 06 yesterday the first driver update was for my DGE 530 pci card from dlink website (it didn't come with my xps system) version 9 then I updated my doing wifi router with latest driver as well. Did not work and was going nuts so I posted here, hehe.

I just came back from a couple of computer shops and like I said they have nothing ! Might have to buy one online! Would it be good to pay for a network card like the one bigfoot network does...I think it's called killer nic or something like that !?

I have an XPS from 03 and the Windows 7 auto installed drivers works fine for me. I didn't even need to use the Dell CD.

There is also the ddwrt firmware or the tomato firmware which can make a bunch of older routers work with Windows 7, I might be able to track those down if I knew which make and model and version of router you are using.

My Router is a DIR-655 Xtreme N gigabit by D-Link Hardware version : A3 and the Software version is 1.21

My modem and router worked perfectly fine under windows 7 becose I could establish a wifi connection very well from my iphone. the probleme is coming etither from windows or my network card (Dlink DGE-530T) dont you think !
