Windows 7: mapped drive disappears after log out

10 Dec 2014   #11

Win 7 Pro 64 bit

Resurrecting this old thread because it's relevant to my situation and I tried one of the solutions with odd results.

Issue: Locally mapped drives to folders on the domain servers keep disappearing.

I issued the net command as recommended and got the same result as below.

C:\>net use
New connections will not be remembered.
So then I assigned the drive as in:

net use s: \\servername\sharename
Problem solved, I thought. But, not so. The next morning when our user came into work, there was no mapped S: drive when she logged in. Worse, when she attempted to map S as a network drive, it was already assigned, just not visible on her desktop.

I rebooted the computer and the drive did appear. But, it still keeps disappearing after a logoff.

I've been looking high and low for information... can't find much... any updated thoughts on how to resolve this issue.

BTW, it happens on multiple mapped drives, but not for all users. I also have a user that maps remote drives via Citrix. Two of the drives always remap at logon/connection, but the third one has to be constantly remapped.
