    Sharing 2 Win 7 PC's over WorkGroup - doesn't work

    Hey guys,
I'm trying to setup two Win 7 PC's, they're both exactly the same machines with the same operating system. They both are connected over a Linksys WRT-160N router and the network location is 'Work'. I'm trying to share a folder however whenever i go to computer>network> i cant see the other computer here. I have network discovery, file sharing, everything on. I tried the file sharing troubleshooter which says that it can't recieve response from the PC I'm trying to connect to. I have a Brother 8890DW Printer shared over the network just fine, the printer does it by itself as its wifi enabled i didnt have to do much just installed the drivers on both but i can't figure out how to share files.

    Your help is highly appreciated!

You also need to enable file sharing by using the permission settings, the link below shows you how. You will sometimes need to add "Everyone" to the shared with list.

If that doesn't work then most likely your A/V software is causing the problem.

Be sure you right-click the folder to share and select Properties and NOT "share with". Once on Properties, select the Sharing Tab. In the “Choose people to share with” dialog box, open the pull down-box. In the pull-down box, select “Everyone” and click ADD. Click the triangle in the Permission Level column. Here you can select Read Read/Write, or Remove. At bottom right of dialog box, click Share. A message should appear “Your folder is shared” Verify the information and click Done.
