Network shows my computer with 11 folders each of docs, music, pics I had some trouble a couple of weeks ago after an automatic Windows Update, which you guys solved after lengthy system restores and a couple of other ways. At the time I thought I noticed something lengthy being listed in the Network folder of the sidebar.
Yesterday, I went into the folder and saw 1 folder of the c drive, but 11 folders of doucments, from documents~1 through documents~11, as well as music and pictures from 1 through 11.
What could have happened to the network folder to have created so many of those folders? They all point to the documents, music and pictures which I normally access through Favorites.
Any suggestions?
Thank you.

Are there files in everyone of these folders? One of the reasons I could see this happening is because sometimes when you highlight several folders for whatever reason and then when you drag them and accidently drop them in the same place where they already are it basically makes copies of all those folders. But not 11 copies, unles you do it 11 times. | My System Specs | | OS Windows 7 Ultimate 32-bit |

Smythotech:
Yes, there are files in every one of these folders. It just makes me wonder because I haven't made changes to any folders, drag-and-drop style.
Is it possible that the repeats were done by the sfc scannow command? I had to repeat that function several times -- come to think of it, more than ten times -- to fix a problem with Windows Explorer which did not allow me to save files to Documents. This was resolved in another Forum, General Discussion, Windows Explorer won't allow files to be saved to Documents. The sfc scannow fixed the files that were giving me problems. But now, this...
Thank you.

sfc /scannow won't do that.
Most likely those extra files were created when you shared them. Each time you enable permissions for a folder it creates a shared version. To get rid of the extra folders you need to unshare them from the machine that originally shared them. | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number Home built OS Windows 7 Ult, Windows 8 Pro, CPU Q9650-4.275GHz, E8600 4.5GHz, E6750-3.8GHz Motherboard Evga 780i FTW Memory G.Skill PC2 9600 1200Mhz 5 5 5 15 2T Graphics Card GTX480 Sound Card Asus Xonar D2 Monitor(s) Displays HannsG Screen Resolution 1680X1050 Keyboard Logitech G15 Mouse Logitech G9 PSU ThermalTake Toughpower 1000Watt modular Case ThermalTake XaserV Cooling Xigmatek S1283 Hard Drives GSkill Phoenix Pro 120GB SSD Internet Speed T1 |
