ethernet card doesn't work on startup - Ultimate 64bit

Hi all - I have Win7 Ultimate 64bit and my ethernet pci card DLink DFE-530TX+ (rev F) doesn't recognize the broadband connection on bootup. I have to disable it in the device manager and then re-enable it. Then the broadband connection works.

I have the latest driver, from the DLink site, which is specifically for Win7: 1.12.0.1 (10/12/2009)

I put in the ethernet card as a workaround, because the onboard ethernet device had exactly the same problem. It is a Realtek PCIe GBE Family Controller. I got the latest driver from Realtek (7.26.902.2010 - dateed 9/2/2010) but like the DLink, when I first boot up, it does not recogize the broadband internet connection.

I had hoped the PCI card would not experience the same problem -but it does.

Thoughts?

I found a more current driver at the Dlink site dated 2/4/10 version 8.0. Might be worth a try. At the link click on "support resources" then "drivers" it's the one at the top. It might work better than the one you are using now because it seems to be newer and is made for Win7 64 bit.

Thanks, Chev65. The driver I installed is part of the bundle that DLink calls 8.0. (which is the one you saw on the DLink site)

Within that bundle, 1.12.0.1 is the driver that works for Win7

The dates aren't the same, you posted 10/12/2009 the one I posted said 2/4/10 so it might be an updated version of the same driver. It might be worth while to uninstall the one you have then reinstall the newer one from device manager. It might also help to update the firmware of your router.

Chev65, the Release Notes of the 8.0 driver show that it includes in the bundle the driver which I installed, which has the (prior) date of 10/12/2009.

It was the 8.0 bundle which I installed, just like you suggested.

I also did a Windows7 repair install, and I upgraded the firmware of the router.

None of these helped. I still have, at startup, the broadband not working. I have to disable and re-enable the driver, using Device Manager, to make the connection work. A hassle!

I do appreciate all your suggestions. But I still have not solved the problem.

Problem solved. I went through all the tabs in the device (DLINK network adapter) and there was a power management tab. The check box was checked (by default I suppose) to allow the system to shut down the adapter to save power. I unchecked the box. Now, when I launch windows, the network adapter works!
