All that you need is a miniature Bluetooth dongle like this. As you can see they are very inexpensive, I have several of things and they work amazingly well.

    Hello,

according to toshiba, i need a toshiba bluetooth™ v2.1+edr usb nano adapter. Are they yanking my chain? These cost around $30.00. Will what you are referring to do the same thing? I found out that my model is s5990 and is bluetooth ready but not capable. What do you think?

They are specifying their own version of the usb adapter which is very similar to the one I posted the link to. You do not need to use Toshiba's USB adapter, you can use whatever adapter you prefer. Bluetooth is standardized so they all should work pretty much the same.

    Okay strollin, here we go....

I went to office depot and had the guy there take a look at my unit. According to what he found, i had to get a bluetooth adaptor. Ok, cool. So, i bought the only one they had in stock, which was a wincomm. I installed it and put the little tiny adaptor thing in the usb port. It now says bt lynn in my system tray. But, it doesn't see the gps receiver. When i pull out the adaptor and put it back in, it says *your bluetooth device is not discoverable. Your bluetooth radial is turned on but is not discoverable. Only bluetooth devices that are paired with this computer can be seen. Then it says to click here to change settings. Well, i can't find where the "here" is, so i went into connection settings and looked around in there and the results are as follows:

    allow usb connections is checked.

Allow connections to one of the following; bluetooth is checked.

    this computer is connected to:[automatic - 1 of 3

    allow device authentication is checked.
Allow data connections on device when connected to pc is checked.

And that's it. I think we are making progress but not sure in which direction! :) if it would be easier for you to help me voice to voice, i do have msn if you would rather use that. Either way is good for me.
Thanks for your much appreciated advice and patience.

    Success! Finally!!f

    Hey Strollin,

I wanted to let you know, after all the help you gave me... It looks like it was the stupid adaptor the whole time. I finally got disgusted with it and took it back to Office Depot today. Went to a little computer shop in the same shopping center and found one of a different make for about $10 cheaper and as soon as I stuck it into the port and ran the software that came with it, it saw my receiver as well as my phone and a bunch of other stuff apparently located in the store! :) So, now it's on to MS S&T to see if I can get it configured to work well with my speech program.

    Thanks for all your efforts.
