    Strange Network Indicator Problem

A strange problem ???? Anybody have any ideas ????

I have a new PC with Win 7 ultimate. I am not using wireless, just a 100 mbs Broaband Ethernet adapter.

So far I have tried two different "Network Activity Indicator" utility programs with the same result. One used the keyboard leds to indicate Network Activity and the other installed into the system tray and blinked a little blue "monitor image".

They BOTH do show Network Activity BUT they also still show activity when I am not online. They randomly blink every few seconds when I am not online. I have a Net 7 Technologies "Manual Internet Breaker Switch" which allows you to physically connect or disconnect from the Internet "Cable". Both of the indicators I tried continued to blink AFTER I physically disconnected from the internet cable.

So what could be going on ???????? Anybody with ideas ???

Sounds like maybe the AV or similar software is trying to call home and the indicators are showing the attempt. Can't be an incoming signal so it has to be outbound attempt.

You could be right Hopalong - I have Kapersky AV. Seems pretty good.

Got to look into it - maybe download one of the Network Monitors again and try turning off the AV to see if theres a change. But its hard to believe the AV would be trying to Unsucessfully call home so frequently. It maketh no sensus

    Thanx
