Wow and to think just over a year ago I was getting 1.5/1Mb and was moaning about my speed, it's crazy when you have people's actual speed and not the stuff ISP's put out, the difference in speeds is mad.

You live in Wales, the fact you have a picture of a sheep, suggests you live in the sticks up on a hill somewhere with only sheep to keep you company. Be happy you even get broadband.

Well, I think I hold the record for the worst speed/highest cost connection:

My company has been paying US $160/month for this connection although I talked to my ISP recently and they are supposedly dropping the rate to $99/month (I'll see if that happened when I get my bill in a day or two).

My ISP came knocking on my door a few weeks back to ask if I would be interested in a 4M broadband connection for $40/month. I told them to sign me up! I was told they were just canvassing the neighborhood to gauge interest and, if they did it at all, it would not be put into place for 12 to 18 months!

That is not only a very poor broadband speed it is also very expensive, I would call that day light robbery. Do you live in the middle of no where, and have you not considered using you mobile to connect to the web, it may work out much cheaper, and maybe faster.

Yup, I live out in "the country", only 30 miles south of the silicon valley but the particular place where I live is just a dead zone for internet access. If I could move my house a couple of miles West, I could get a 20M connection for $40/month.

I do have a phone with 4G and can get much faster DL speeds with it. If I need to DL a particularly large file I will tether to it and use it for that. My data plan with Verizon is unlimited but I'm afraid if I use it too much they will throttle me.

In the uk where people live in the middle of no where they sometimes club together as a community and install themselves a fibre cable. I think there are companies that do it but it cost over a million pounds but I think they just pay a monthly fee which is an installment of the amount.

I would expect lightning fast speeds for that kind of money...

That is more than every bill I have, rent included. I pay about $135 for HD Cable, Home Phone and Internet.
