Cannot detect one particular wireless network, others detecting fine

    Hi,

Wonder if anyone can help me?
I have just moved house and been given the internet details by the landlord.
The provider is Virgin and the landlord asked for my MAC addresses of each device to allow access to the internet and gave me the password.
I managed to connect on my iPhone and my housemate who is also running windows 7 off a laptop can also connect.
However the network does not even appear in my wireless list. Several other wireless networks in the area are being detected but not the one in the house. I know it's not hidden as I can connect on other devices.
I have tried a manual setup with the network name, encription etc and tick "allow connection even when network is hidden" but all to no avail.
Unfortunately I have no access to the router as the landlord has that next door, however seems strange it would be a router issue if the other devices connect fine.
I have been through all the settings with my housemate and ensured we have the same setup and am now thoroughly baffled and annoyed.
Anyone have similar issues and resolve them, or know enough about such things to help?

    Thanks
    Julieoh

Make sure your landlord entered the MAC address correctly. Go over it with him again. Also, make sure you are recording the correct number. I've made mistakes in the past and recorded the incorrect number. From a command prompt, type; ipconfig /all
Look for the wireless adapters physical address.
I once wrote down the "ethernet" adapter's address and then spent hours trying to figure out why I couldn't connect.

so have you managed to find a solution?
I am asking - because it seems the same is happening with my wireless network and brand new Win7.

Every other computer and smarptphone can detect my wireless network at home, yet my new Win 7 PC - can't.

    Someone please help

Anything thing may be that the router might be looking for N only or B only, see what Bands the router is pushing out and see what bands your wireless receiver can handle. that will cause it too.

    Hi,

I have a user with this same issue - he's got a brand new Dell laptop that is able to detect all nearby wireless networks except one. And of course this is the one he needs to access. I've tried updating the drivers, rebooting, running Windows and Dell updates, and adding the network manually (at which time it appears under Manage Wireless Networks but he still can't connect to it). Does anyone have a fix for this?
