RDC stopped working all of a sudden

    Hi,

I had my work PC (XP pro) connected through RDC to my home laptop (Win7 Pro) and it was working perfectly for a couple of days and then just stopped.

I have port forwarded 3389 and have enabled it on my home PC. I have allowed 'remote desktop' on my home PC and still no luck. In services everything that has to do with 'remote' i have started. I cannot see 'terminal services' in services but i have enabled it through CMD 'net start termservice' i think it was. My IP hasn't changed for sure. I have tried disabling the firewall but again no luck.

What could be the problem? I have tried everything for the past couple of days and I'm slowly starting to give up.

    Please help!

    Thanks in advance.

Your A/V software probably created a rule to keep you from accessing the other machine. It might help to disable or check the rules of your A/V software to see if there is a problem.

    I've tried that already.

I have tried disabling the firewall completely which is integrated in to AVG Internet Security. I Then also disabled the entire antivirus along with the firewall and again no connection.

With AVG you usually need to uninstall it completely. No guarantee's on this but AVG causes these types of problems all the time.

Well the thing is I had initially allowed it through the AVG firewall and it worked fine, no rules have changed since then i've checked and rechecked. Anyways seems like a dead end, I'll just reinstall my windows. Thanks anyway.

Not hardly a dead end, in fact I've seen countless problems fixed by just uninstalling AVG. It's much easier than uninstalling Windows 7 I'd say.
